Andrew Ng has served as our Chief Scientist since May 2014 and is in charge of Baidu’s global strategy for developing artificial intelligence technology and advanced infrastructure. Dr. Ng leads Baidu Research in our Beijing and Silicon Valley offices, and manages technical teams that are dedicated to speech recognition, image recognition & search, and big data technology. Dr. Ng is also an adjunct professor of computer science at Stanford University. Prior to joining Baidu, he co-founded Coursera since 2012. Dr. Ng served as the founding leader of the Google Brain deep learning project from 2011 to 2012. He has authored or co-authored over 100 published research papers in machine learning, robotics, and other related fields. Dr. Ng holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, a master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a bachelor of science degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.
